Gatekeepers of Governance (2015)
Our first two day Corporate Governance Summit, Gatekeepers of Governance (2014), was very well received with 36 speakers in 9 sessions. It was an unprecedented landmark programme to capture and reflect the concerns of stakeholders of governance.
Gatekeepers of Governance (2015) has been planned as a series of sessions which seek to address different aspects of corporate governance. The Companies Act, 2013 has for the first time made a number of statutory provisions which directly impact on corporate governance. SEBI has made more stringent the corporate governance requirements introduced through Clause 49 of the Listing Agreement. The expectation levels of the stakeholders in regard to corporate governance have significantly increased. This has also led to enhanced shareholder activism. The box-ticking exercise, which earlier passed for compliance, is no longer par for the course. This Summit is a clarion call to the Gatekeepers of Governance to spread the message that good governance is a necessary condition for sustained performance in increasingly competitive times.
